EASTHAMPTON — A contract for a new municipal website will be awarded soon, following a year-long internal discussion, Mayor Karen Cadieux revealed on Monday during an interview in her office.

Cadieux confirmed rumors that the city will soon be in line for a new, upgraded, or redesigned website, but declined to name the company which will be awarded the no-bid contract, and in subsequent emails refused to release a copy of the proposed contract to the public until after the document is signed.

“The contract is being reviewed by our city attorney,” wrote Cadieux in a series of emails to a reporter dated Dec. 28 and Dec. 29. “I will send you a copy of the contract after it is approved and signed.”

The mayor did not respond to a follow-up email asking her to immediately reveal the name of the favored web design company.
